On Saturday I left Bali, arriving in HK that night. You know those airplane magazine articles, “3 perfect days in … “? I could write one for Hong Kong, but it has to begin with visiting my delightful old friends Carolyn and Bill, who are there for the year. Bill’s on a Fulbright helping HKU rearrange their curriculum. Their apartment overlooks the South China Sea and the awesome busy cargo shipping, and they can see Lamma Island.
Sunday was a beautiful day, so we set out for Lamma, a recreation island and bedroom community with great ferry service and marvelous seafood. After admiring the GeoDucks and scallops, we took a long walk to the other side of the island.
We hiked across the island and stopped at different viewing pavilions to take pictures of the beautiful scenery.
Later that night we sat down for a late lunch and feasted on a fabulous seafood dinner.
Commuters ride their bikes to the peer, then chain them to the railing for the day as they go about their usual business.
A beautiful evening and ferry ride back to the Peninsula to end the long but fulfilling day.
