Uarhukua: Juego do Pelota do los Purhepecha

You’ve heard of the Mayans and the Aztecs,. but how about the Purhepecha? They were and are the indigenous people of the Michoacan region of Mexico.

I took this footage in Fall 2008 at a children;s camp in Erongaricuaro, Michoacan.  The University of Morelia students in the team were demonstrating the Purhepecha ball game to the young adolescents at the camp, and then invited them to play.

This video is only 7.5 minutes long and it is in Spanish.  The images are very nice! Oscar Carillo of Orco Producciones did a fine job on the editing.
