Making a painting on cloth is very labor intensive, besides requiring skill in drawing and painting. Here are just a few pictures of a piece that will be finished by the end of April, thinks the artist, Wayan Pande Sumantra of Kamasan. Check out the amazing paintings he creates!
- The treated fabric is polished with a shell
- A pencil drawing is made
- Watered ink is applied using bamboo pens
- Borders are painted first
- Detailing
- What detail!
Polished again, and fully black ink added to reinforce and outline the beautiful art.
- Beginning second polish
- a Balinese artisan paints a story-cloth
- Concentrated artist
- Just another day at the office
- Finished piece: Sarasuati, a goddess of wisdom
